This post is about looking back and forward – family life reflections. 2025 has been an eventful and transformative year for our family. Looking back, we can see growth, milestones, and moments of joy, alongside challenges that have tested our resilience and unity. This year has reminded us of the strength and importance of family and the bonds that tie us together.
Our four-year-old daughter has continued to amaze us with her talents. She draws and writes exceptionally well and shows creativity beyond her years. Kindergarten has been a rich environment for her: she gets to move physically, create art, and socialize with friends. At the same time, she practices care and responsibility at home, especially in looking after her younger brother. While there are occasional moments when she tests boundaries, these experiences are part of her growth and learning.
Our son, despite having Down syndrome, has made impressive progress in 2025. He celebrated his second birthday on December 29th. He isn’t walking yet, but he pulls himself up and takes sideways steps while holding onto supports, so we are eagerly anticipating his first independent steps. Being home allows us to proceed at our own pace, ensuring he receives the support and attention he needs while celebrating every small milestone.

Family Support and Partner Collaboration
Supporting each other as parents has been crucial. There have been moments of tension and disagreements with extended family, which makes the quiet, intimate time with our immediate family even more valuable. Spending time together without outside pressures has strengthened our bond and provided space to focus on what truly matters: the well-being of our children and the harmony of our household.
This year has reminded us that family is about teamwork and patience. Whether it’s taking care of children, cooking, or managing daily routines, the collaboration between partners makes everything smoother and more rewarding.
Expectations and Joy for 2026
Looking forward, 2026 is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting year. We are expecting our third child in April. This pregnancy has been very different from my previous one with our son: calm, low-stress, and allowing me to focus on well-being rather than constant medical supervision. My own health is good, and I have been regularly attending midwife appointments and basic health checks, ensuring everything is progressing normally.
We are genuinely excited to welcome this new member to our family and to see how our children adapt and grow with a sibling. The anticipation brings both joy and reflection, and we are taking time to mentally prepare for the new dynamics that come with a larger family.

Milestones, Media, and Positivity
2025 also brought unexpected experiences beyond our private life. We were approached by journalists and media outlets interested in our story. While some online commentary was harsh or critical, the direct feedback we received in person was overwhelmingly supportive and positive, which we deeply appreciated. These experiences reminded us that while external opinions may vary, staying grounded and focusing on our family’s values is what truly matters.
Gratitude and Hopes for the New Year
As the year comes to a close, our reflections bring gratitude for the progress, love, and togetherness we have shared. My wish for 2026 is that our family continues to stay close, healthy, and happy, that our children thrive in a nurturing environment, and that we navigate challenges with patience and unity.
Looking back on 2025, we can be proud of what we have accomplished as a family. Looking forward to 2026, we embrace the excitement, growth, and new experiences that await us.
To all families out there, may the new year bring you joy, connection, and countless precious moments together.
